| My son was like that too and the teachers had us all in a panic. But we decided to wait a bit before taking him for testing and we were glad we saved the dollars because by the time he got to grade one he straightened out all by himself. I think everyone is looking for disease these days and we don't just let kids develop at their own pace.

| My son also had difficulty at the beginning of the year (is this a "boy" problem?) and we took him to our naturopath. The naturopath recommended supplementing his diet with essential fatty acids because that often helps learning problems. I don't know if the EFA's or time kicked in, but a few months later he was much better. I still give him the EFA's because they're good for you anyway. But you might try that with your son and see if it helps him concentrate more.

| I don't think you should rush off for testing just yet. Give him one more year. Meanwhile, why don't you try the Bach Flower "clematis" - it is for spaciness. Maybe it will help him (and there could be other Bach Flowers that would improve his learning - see a specialiist.) We had good experiences with Bach Flowers for our son who has ADD and some auditory processing issues.

| Our son really does have learning issues and he is already in grade 2. Our homeopath has treated him and there has been a lot of improvement. But we also give him extra tutoring and that helps him cope with the curriculum at school. I think sometimes you have to individualize a child's education even to the point of changing schools or classrooms, getting more help and so on. But if you find the right programs the child can thrive. My nephew has similar problems and he does very well on medication. There's lots of solutions out there so don't worry if it turns out that your little boy has some special needs.
