Babies and toddlers often have difficulty sleeping through the night and this can be a challenging time for parents. A bedtime tea can help to promote sleep but will not necessarily cause a baby to sleep through the night. Herbs are great for those who have a hard time falling asleep and can lead to a deeper, more restive sleep. If your baby seems restless or unable to relax, herbal teas are a great option. Some herbs that are sleep-promoting and appropriate for young children include chamomile, lemon balm, lavender, linden and catnip. These are all mild tasting and can be sweetened with a little honey or stevia if your child desires. Herbs can also be used in the form of a sleep pillow. Lavender, chamomile, lemon balm, hops, and rose petals are good choices to put in a pillow. The essential oils contained in these herbs will be released into the air, promoting relaxation and a feeling of calm.
