Breakfast is a very important meal. Before heading off to school, children can really benefit from consuming a balanced and nutritious meal. However, many children balk at eating in the morning. A common reason is that they are not interested in popular breakfast foods. Some children may be happy eating more non-traditional foods in the morning. Discuss the importance of breakfast with your children and try to get their input on the kinds of foods they'd be willing to eat. Some suggestions might include: smoothies, eggs, peanut butter on toast, yogurt and a healthy muffin, pizza bagels, or even leftover dinner. If they are truly uninterested in eating, see if you can send a small nutritious snack for them to eat once they are at school.
