Our kids know where we stand on smoking - we've brought home picture books from the library ever since they were little explaining the dangers of nicotine & other drugs. So when we discovered that our 17 year old Patrick has been smoking (fairly heavily) we were flabbergasted. He KNOWS how bad that stuff is for him. Admittedly my wife and I both lost it on him - we blasted him - more out of complete frustration than anything else. The thing is, we don't know what we can really do about it. He's pretty hooked already and he could turn into a smoking adult! What's wrong with kids? Do they have to learn everything the hard way?
