You may have read about emotional intelligence (EQ) and you may want to know more. We want our children to have high emotional intelligence because we know that this means that they will be more successful in relationships and careers, and they will experience more personal happiness.
Participating in this discussion forum can be invaluable. The interactive act of sharing experiences is one of the oldest forms of learning and one of the most powerful. This is especially true in the area of emotional intelligence, where social interaction itself is the learning forum.
Remember, we are all different. Learning to accept and validate our differences, while connecting with our similarities is what emotional intelligence is all about! Learn from others but make sure you are still checking in with your own emotions. Fine-tune what you learn and find ways to make it your own as we all have to feel comfortable with the way we parent. I look forward to many interesting discussions! (And don’t forget to check out my articles on emotional intelligence)
